Scarlett Johansson Invited to Testify on Deepfakes

According to recent reports from MSNBC, The Hill and others, actress Scarlett Johansson has been invited to testify before a House Oversight Subcommittee on July 9, 2024, regarding her concerns about deepfake technology and AI, following a controversy involving OpenAI's AI assistant "Sky" sounding eerily similar to her voice.

The House Oversight and Accountability subcommittee, which oversees technology and privacy issues, has extended an invitation to Scarlett Johansson to share her concerns about deepfakes and artificial intelligence at a hearing scheduled for July 9. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), chair of the subcommittee, stated that the hearing aims to address the broader implications and potential misuses of deepfake technology, providing Johansson with a platform to inform the public debate on this topic.
